Just checking out this thread. Would it make sense to make a note in the summary up top about the major benefits of Regents/Honors at each campus, if they differ? For example, if they differ in which ones offer priority registration…a huge benefit at any UC campus?
I thought ALL of them offered priority registration, until I saw the above!
I know people can click on the links to find out the benefits but that seems like a biggie, right up there with the scholarship amounts in importance.
Regents is the same at most campuses. Some include honors housing. Most have special library privileges. UCI took away priority enrollment for Regents in Fall 2024, but offers it to CHC. I think that is a way to nudge Regents to participate in the honors program.
UCI has a four year on campus housing guarantee which is great, but I’m not sure if ACC is considered “on campus.” If someone was offered Regents from UCI and can check on the four year on campus housing offer, I would appreciate it.
Not sure if this is mentioned above. UC Merced started offering OOS students WUE scholarships. That is a scholarship on top of the WUE tuition discount, which makes UCM even more affordable for OOS students. My S24 got $4,000 per year for four years. Not sure if every OOS student received the same amount or not.
Yes, the exact wording of the award letter is this:
“Congratulations again on your acceptance to UC Merced! Your outstanding academic performance has earned you our inaugural UC Merced Western Undergraduate Exchange Scholarship for the 2024-25 academic year. This special honor provides you with a renewable award of $4,000 for each of the next four years to help defray the cost of tuition costs. Congratulations to you and your family!”
Because it has the word “inaugural”, I think this is new for 2024-25 academic year. After receiving the email, I logged into the Financial Aid portal, and confirmed that they have loaded $2,000 to each semester for 2024-2025.
–UHP offered to top 1-2% of freshman and transfer admits (150-200 enrolled students per year), includes priority registration, Honors-only classes, centralized Honors housing and a bunch of other benefits
–Additional merit scholarships include Fulmor (for College of Letters & Science), $30K over four years
