Comparing various public flagship universities: why are some more highly regarded than others? etc

You missed out by not visiting the engineering campus. There are older buildings at UIUC like most other schools, but not run down.
My kids received an excellent education there from both Grainger and Gies. As an Illinois resident it’s hard to beat.

We were in the natural science buildings on the main quad. My assessment was based on the condition of these buildings.

I know that Gies has a new building, which is quite nice, and even the older buildings at the B school were in good condition.

No doubt, UIUC is a strong school with great outcomes. It also has a healthy alumni network, especially in Chicago.
