How hard is it to get a job as a Financial Advisor these days? And are most advisors graduates from T-1 schools?

Financial advisor is a commission/fee job. You do not need a college education to get a sales job although it helps. You just need a firm to sponsor you for your licenses. Its very easy to become one but the turn over rate is huge. Insurance companies and any broker dealer will sponsor you.

So you don’t actually work for a company?

Most financial advisors work for a company, especially those just starting out, but some go on to start their own financial advising business. Although you will likely be working for someone else’s company, a financial advisor is an independent salesman, so in a way it’s sort of like running your own business.

Think Ameriprise. Each “firm” says _______ & Associates or something like that. Basically, each firm is like commentcomment said - they are sponsored by a firm and then work off of any commisions they make with a kickback going to the parent company.

I think what you might be confusing it with is a financial consultant who isn’t a financial advisor. Someone who advises a person or a company on how to perform better financially. Those jobs are very competitive since you need a good deal of finance/accounting experience.
