I would like to know of some more competitive schools besides Ivy Leagues because my chances at them are pretty slim. I have a 4.0 GPA and I have a 1480 SAT I live in Maryland. What are some other competitive schools? I would like some bigger schools like good state schools or prestigious schools with a big social scene and athletics. I am considering Johns Hopkins, Emory, and Duke as competitive reach schools as well, and I have University of Maryland and Delaware as safety schools. I’m not sure yet, but I think I want to study something in business or social sciences. I would also like some information on good honors colleges at other state schools. I’m looking at schools in the South, midwest, and northeast. Money is not an issue. All responses are greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Wake Forest, Tulane, University of Miami, SMU, Richmond, Wisconsin seem like they’d be great fits and would be matches/low reaches for the most part. Good luck!
Rice.
BC (match to low reach), Georgetown (reach)
Notre Dame (reach)
Northwestern and Washington Univ. in St. Louis (reach)
FYI on Wake, it places a heavy emphasis on “interest” (visiting, interviewing, etc.) (so does Wash U). If it looks interesting, you might try to get down there for a visit before filling out the app. I believe the interviewing season is complete, though you’d want to double-check that. It does seem a really good fit for you, including the business school.
I’d think Wake would be a high match/low reach, depending on the visit. Tulane maybe also high match/low reach. The rest would probably on my list match-y, though no one can say for sure.
You’d be a reasonable candidate at all these schools, but i agree that Notre Dame, Northwestern, Wash U, Rice, and Georgetown would be reaches. They are for everyone in RD. BC is a good recommendation, though also probably a high match/low reach.
University of Rochester
Syracuse
NYU–has no athletics, but . . . . a lot of social scene!
Lehigh
Lafayette
Lehigh (great school) also places high value on interest (visit/ interview, etc.)
