Completed...October...but...neverous...

Deffered student from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor will be able to get a decision aftermath? (waitlist, accept, reject)

when is the final decision date?

I completed my application in October and I got defer. After that, I continue to update my test score (SAT).
If I sent my December SAT score to the school, then it means application is completed in December? or it is still completed in October when it is the initial month that my application was completed?

THX

Stop worrying. They are not going to just take you out and put you at the bottom of the pile because you gave them more information to work with. When I applied, they actually encouraged sending in more test scores and stuff after I was deferred.

Yes, but for those of us who have been waiting since October, it’s been essentially 4 months. It starts to get a bit nerve wracking and you start to wonder if maybe the time till your decision must have started in December. It seems there is no other logical reason for having to wait so long. Maybe not rational, but definitely something that occurs to me as to why those of us waiting that long may still be waiting.

Definitely send the score in. I can’t guarantee that it won’t delay the application, because someone has to physically add this new information to your app, but the disadvantage of not sending in a higher score is enormous.

Simply send that stuff in, and maybe an essay. (However, a friend told me that this doesn’t help with getting into Umich; he knows important people there) I can’t see how it would hurt though.

And I can definitely see where this guy is coming from. 4 months is a LONG time to wait for a decision, especially when schools like Yale and Harvard review applications starting around Jan 1st and give out decisions 3 months later. And they do way more in-depth evaluating of just as many applicants. It’s not even the wait itself – its the added pressure of knowing that the slew of application decisions will probably come out from other schools before you get your Umich decision.

It’s not uncommon to not hear anything until mid-April.

Send the extra stuff in, and make some informed decisions about where you want to go.

Where else have you applied/been accepted?

What if I don’t send stuff like current semester transcipit in? Will that affect the decision?

It might. No one really knows exactly how it’ll affect decisions… but it very well might

I agree and I also disagree. I’ve heard many things about not sending stuff in. But I personally saw myself as a rather weak applicant (compared to some people here at least) and one of my weak points was my education essay. I emailed the adcom who I guess was in charge, and basically expanded on the education essay (more on why I wanted to go) and I got results pretty quickly. While this isn’t like… a fail safe thing, it’s just what I’ve experienced so far (along with another UMich transfer student), and it’s worked well. I agree though, I can’t see it hurting.

Actually, I have prepared another essay why I wanted to transfer to U of M and why I want to leave my current school. Should I email the essay or print them out to send?

I emailed, but I’ve been emailing the adcoms since early October / November so they kinda already know my email and stuff like that.

Whatever you feel like is the best.
