Completely Ruined?

I only took one SAT II this past testing date for US History and got a 600 :frowning: horrible I know…I plan on applying to schools like Tufts/Columbia/Georgetown and have a strong GPA/Recs./Extra Curriculars…will this completely diminish my chances?

You should definitely take another one or two other SAT IIs this October/November. Admittedly 600 won’t ruin an otherwise good application, but to be on the safe side you should consider retaking next year. Remember Columbia had a 10% acceptance for freshmen entering 2007, so the applicant pool is very selective. I am fairly certain that Columbia will look at your highest SAT II score per subject, so if you brush up on your US History over the summer (Barron’s SAT II and Princeton/Barron’s APUSH reviews are helpful), getting over 700 shouldn’t be difficult.

Yeah, just the AMSCO for US History and you’ll be fine. It has everything you’ll need to know on that test in a pretty condensed format.

Not to mention you need 3 SAT II’s for georgetown
