Complex question: Am I a first generation or not?

<p>My biological dad left me before I was born so I know almost nothing about him. My mom never finished high school. My father figure, however, did get some kind of degree but he is also absent from my life as of now. </p>

<p>I have never lived with my biological sisters and brothers but I believe they all went on to college. I can’t be sure and I don’t know where they are now. </p>

<p>I live presently live with my aunt. She went to a community college then transferred to a UC where she got some kind of degree. Her children (my cousins) went to Ivy Leagues. </p>

<p>I can’t tell if I’m considered first generation or not. Would it even help me much if I were? Please help :]</p>

<p>I would say you are first generation, even if the aunt is the legal guardian now.</p>
