Complexion Problem - Aging Skin

Oops! I think BIL had [Retinitis pigmentosa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Retinitis pigmentosa - Wikipedia).

something that perplexes me:

When I use a treatment product–retinol, glycolic acid, whatever–and then put a moisturizer on over it, am I diluting, breaking down or otherwise inhibiting the effectiveness of the treatment? Does the content of the moisturizer matter?

Anyone know?

Hey, as long as we’re talking scars… I have an old chicken pox scar from when I was 8. It’s always bugged me. It seems to me that a plastic surgeon might be able to minimize it or make it go away entirely–anyone have any experience with that? What might it cost? (I know getting a tiny mole removed two years ago cost me $250–my insurance has a high deductible so it wasn’t covered.)

Hmmm, I went back and looked at the instructions from my dermatologist and she said to put the moisturizer on first and then the treatment product and then sunscreen (full sunscreen - not the stuff they put in foundation). I have to admit I’ve been putting the treatment product on first, then the moisturizer. I think I’ll try putting the moisturizer on first next week and monitor the effect.

dmd, from my experience with dermatologists, I think you’d want a derm, not a plastic surgeon (though I’ve never been to one of those). Dermatologists do amazing things these days on scars & skin issues of all kinds. They laser things, freeze things off, sometimes remove them by cutting etc. It really seems to evolved to amazing levels these days.
