Computer glitch causes premature acceptance notices

The Collegian posted this announcement today. It’s a bit confusing about the acceptances being honored, though (as far as which campus you get in).

[Error leads to early admission - The Daily Collegian Online](http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2010/10/11/error_leads_to_early_admission.aspx)

Oops.

10 char.

Here is what I gather from the article.

1-Who’s admissions decisions will be honored is extremeley confusing.
2- Contrary to the admissions reps rebuttal, I think that the computer does auto accept. They do this at large state schools where they get huge amounts of apps. Rutgers does this. If there is an X GPA + Y SAT = ACCEPT. My guess is apps where there is a 1300 and 3.7 + will be auto accepted. Everything below may get a quick glance.

wow- it seems pretty obvious from this that computers, rather than people, are determining which applicants are admitted to Penn State. Way to turn everyone into a number, PSU!
