Just trying to trouble shoot before I get home from work tonight…
Yesterday I downloaded the free McAfee security that came with the laptop we purchased for my H from Costco. He is telling me that now a couple of times the computer seems to shut off if he is away from it for a half hour or so. Would this software possibly have a setting on it that it shuts the computer down if it has been idle for awhile? If so, any steps to change the settings???
I’m ok at solving computer problems…H has NO skills or patience for figuring things out! Any thoughts appreciated.
Check and see if the computer is set for sleep mode and how long before it goes into sleep mode. That very well might be the issue. http://www.intowindows.com/how-to-enable-or-disable-sleep-mode-in-windows-10/
That’s what I did when I got home. I didn’t see anything in the McAfee that should have affected it - but since I just downloaded that software yesterday it was the first thought that came to mind.
If you have Windows 10 you do not need the added McAfee program. This is unlike years ago when there was no excellent Windows Defender part of the basic computer. That sleep mode advice sounds right. If the sleep mode changes don’t help perhaps disabling the McAfee will.
