computer/internet question

I am not that knowledgeable about computers so I want to have some of this figured out before I get to campus. What is the difference between IUware and IUanyWare? Which do I want to use to download software from IU? Also what do I need to do to have internet access in dorms? Detailed answer really would be appreciated

thanks

As an incoming freshman I may not be the best source of information but I can offer my insight. IUware will actually download the software to your device. For example, I have downloaded Microsoft Office and Symantec. This is your traditional route and you have been using this method ever since you started using a computer. Likewise, IUanywhere offers the same applications as IUware however they will not be downloaded to your device. This would be ideal if you computer does not have a large hard drive. The downside, from what I can tell, is an internet connection would be required to stream the program to you device. This is something that I personally am not a fan of. One advantage to IUanywhere is the ability to stream programs to your mobile device. The downside to this is the data usage that it may consume which would incur additional costs on your phone bill. For these reasons I have chosen to use IUware, however, it is surely possible to use a combination of the two if you are so inclined.

You can download software from Iuware for little to no expense. For instance we did not buy Microsoft Office when we got the new laptop, downloaded it from Iuware instead. We were in Bloomington last week, so we took the new laptop into tech services in the IU library, they set up her Internet wifi connection, I am glad we did because there was some difficulty getting it set up.

I am not as familiar with IU any ware, but it looks like it is more of an online site where you access applications if don’t want to download them to your device.

The rooms have wifi but the signal may not be great. Rooms come with an eternity connection with cable provided, which should be much faster.

Sorry, meant the Wells Library at IU. I would recommend you stop there as soon as you can and they can make sure that you have everything set and ready to go to avoid technical difficulties.

Thank you for all the information

I apologize again that was not eternity connection it should be ethernet connection. Mobile auto correct is my nemesis. :-)
