Computer science at Skidmore?

Does anyone have any experience with the CS program at Skidmore? I know about 20 kids graduate with CS degrees each each year out of 600+ graduates.

Given that Skidmore is not known as a stem school, maybe thats on par. And that doesn’t really attest to the quality, one way or the other. One of my kids graduated from Haverford, and got a good job right away with a CS degree. Their younger sibling likes Skidmore for size location, and general fit. However, their interest is clearly computer science, and perhaps a minor or double major in economics. Any experience or opinions would be helpful.
(Also considering Connecticut College and emphasized textDickinson)

You may want to check course catalogs and schedules to see what upper level CS courses are offered at each school, and how frequently.

Not sure I would be able to discern good CS course, I am not too knowledgeable. I have heard that schools with more emphasis on a CS curriculum also offer Majors or Minors in data science.

The availability of a data science/analytics major is fairly uncommon at LACs, however, with Hamilton, Macalester and Denison being among the few examples of which I am familiar. Although the availability of a minor (e.g., Wesleyan, Davidson) is more prevalent.

Nonetheless, in terms of Skidmore and STEM generally, I regard the school as being strong, with perhaps broader offerings, such as in geosciences, than even some large universities.

Connecticut College, btw, offers a notably strong botany program.

Regarding economics, this analysis may help you compare departments across LACs of interest: Economics rankings: US Economics Departments at Liberal Arts Colleges | IDEAS/RePEc.

Based on the above, it looks like certain topics in CS that CS majors commonly take are commonly offered at Skidmore, but some other topics in CS are rarely offered.
