In this past summer I took intro to programming online at Santa Rosa Junior College…
I live in Fresno, so my main college i go to is a community college here.
The professor at Santa Rosa was really good and i feel like i learned a lot in that class.
That same professor has an online class teaching Data Structures this semester, but at my community college in Fresno theres a professor teaching in class.
Since I’m used to the professors teaching style online at Santa rosa, I was wondering if taking two many classes at another community college looks bad to UC’s since I’m transferring. Or should I just take it at my Community College
Thanks
No it doesn’t look bad to take some classes at a different community colleges. UCs will not look down on you for doing this. Depending on your major and the UC you might need to take a class that simply isn’t offered at your college. If this is this case then they will not hold it against you for not having completed it, but if you take it at a different college that offers the missing class you will be more competitive for going out of your way to take it and doing well.
If you do decide to take another class at a different college, just make sure it transfers. Also read your assist articulation for your major thoroughly. Some classes that are sequenced may be required to be completed at one community college. For example I’m required to complete my final 2 math classes at the same college to receive credit when I transfer. If I were to take them at different colleges I would receive no credit and will be ineligible to even apply.
You may want to check http://www.assist.org to see which community college courses are accepted to cover prerequisites for your major at each UC and CSU that you are aiming for.
