Computer software for Newhouse students

What should an incoming student buy?

The Syracuse bookstore offers a package with multiple programs.

Thanks!

I wouldn’t rush into purchasing any programs right now. You don’t really need any of the software on your own computer; if you ever need to do a project, the software will be available in the Newhouse labs (and you’ll most likely want to do the work there; the programs are EXPENSIVE and these computers are better equipped to handle them).

Ray’s right (hey Ray, I only JUST realized what your sn means. Great running into you the other day). You shouldn’t rush into buying software. I used the labs for my first two years. I only bought the software when a combination of factors made it really difficult to get to the labs. And while yes, I like having it, I’m not sure it was worth the investment. It certainly wasn’t worth the price I paid before I realized the SU bookstore had it for so much less.
