Thanks WD, I’ll probably just try and download the RC and see how well it works with Boot Camp until then.

I guess your SOL with an Apple in South Carolina then.

lol… ya, I have an auto race in South Carolina in September and am debating taking my MacBook Pro as we will be camping at the racetrack. Humidity is a killer!

Humidity won’t trip a sensor. I’ve had my iPhone outside and even my MPB outside in high humidity and neither have a tripped sensor. The sensors are placed where if they get spilled on, you’re probably SOL anyways. And who the heck spills something on their computer anyways? Even a 600$ is 600$. I’m somewhat miffed that people should even think of “oh i have a warranty, i can do whatever”. This is like brushing your teeth, you need to start good habits young to prevent worser happenings later down the line.

Haha, I spilled tea on my computer this year… New motherboard = free under warranty. It was an accident, though…

facepalm and you’re a CS TA!! AAHHHH! ;)

i know, it was super embarrassing to have to tell my boss i didn’t have my comp bc i spilled tea on it. he then offered to loan me one from olsson lol!!! but since we still had an itc lab in brown i said i didn’t need a loaner. he also let me use his tablet once when i needed a tablet for some ed-school work.

ETA: i should probably note that he most likely offered an olsson loaner because then i could do more grading or something, but OTOH he’s just nice (like the loaning-his-tablet-for-non-cs-work thing).

I’ve had both my iPhone and MBP everywhere from FL to SC to Mexico, and many other high humidity places, and don’t think I’ve tripped a sensor, but I sure haven’t opened it up either to find out.

Canuck: on your iPhone, you can shine a flashlight down your headphone jack. You’ll either see a little white thing or big red ugly tripped sensor. I, for a long time, could never find mine. Then my friend showed me his, which he dropped in a pool, and immediately you could see the red dot, even without the flashlight. The other one is in the bottom of the case.

Thats not so bad, I fell asleep with mine and it hit the floor in the middle of the night. I needed that Dell warranty in a hurry. I paid for the direct onsite warranty from Dell and it has been worth the money. They will come right to your dorm or apt.

That’s neat, thanks. No red on mine.
