Concerning Extra-Curriculars

Hey guys,

Some people have been giving me the impression that if you don’t have extra-curriculars that extend to the provincial/state/national level then its difficult to compete with those who do have them.

For example, I spend alot of time playing badminton, but I’ve never actually gotten any significant awards besides quarterfinalist in a city district High Performance or 10th in the city and 3rd in the east region. How would this compare to somebody who had say 1st in the state in Basketball?

Thanks,

I think that generally, the longer you’ve been doing one of your ECs, and the more recognition you get for them, the better. Admittedly, I only compete at my sport at the local level, but I did get some state and national awards (academic), so I don’t know how that compares.
