My son saw Taylor Swift at MetLife in North Jersey - it was that whole lottery system that was a huge mess and had people deciding to sue Ticketmaster. We were logged into three devices - we got 4 tickets at $125 a pop.
My DIL got free (really good seat) tix to Taylor Swift for a job well done. My son offered me his ticket, and really would have liked to sell both of their tix. They were selling for ridiculous amounts. They did wind up going and had fun. They got to experience some pre-show activities, could buy souvenirs early, things like that.
I saw Elvis in Las Vegas when I was 11. My aunt, just a little older than I am, saw him and wound up on stage with him for just a minute or 2.
For our Elvis concerts, admission was a donation to the food bank. We each brought a canned good to donate.
A year or so ago we were in CA with older s and his family headed to an amusement park in Santa Clara. We couldnāt figure out why the parking lot was full of orange cones and people directing traffic until we realized that the amusement park shares the parking lot with Leviās stadium and TS was playing there that night! So, not only did they play TS music all day at the amusement park, but we sat outside in the parking lot at the end of the day and watched some of the pre-show on the screen (would have stayed longer but the grandkids were tired).
I see yours and raise you a Rolling Stones ticket for $4.90 (Auckland, New Zealand - 1973 - one of the best shows Iāve ever been to!
Was that in US dollars? The travel costs to NZ were probably a tad more than down the Grand Central Parkway to westbury.
nah, NZ$ - I was living there at the time.
What was the conversion rate? How much was that in US dollars?
Yikes on these prices!
When I was in college -ahem, a while ago - I saw Springsteen during his Born in the USA tour on campus for $25, 20 rows back on the floor. Same with U2 Joshua Tree tour. I saw Don Henley solo, James Taylor and the BoDeans over the next couple years, nothing over $40 (because I was a poor recent grad).
When my nieces told me what they paid for Taylor Swift tickets, I died.
This is true! Cheap food for a lackluster team - enjoy the cheap meal! Signed, a Falconās fan (albeit fair-weather).
$7.01 - a bargain!
My friend is trying to get falcons- bills tix and prices are nuts!
Iāve started looking into concerts (looking to do more fun things!) - whew, so expensive. Tickets for Teddy Swims at Red Rocks - start at $450!
Like HImom Iām not (as of yet) a particular fan of huge crowds (although my son and daughter love the concert vibe). Preferring the small local venues (like a winery) where you can see the performers (and sometimes talk to them between sets)
We are going to the McCartney concert, but I am also, TBH, not a big fan of concerts. I am short and everyoneās standing up and singing along so itās hard to see and hear the artist. And even at seated events, I manage to get seated behind someone tall or with big hair.
Oh my! That would be frustrating if you paid hundreds for a ticket! My H is tall so always feel a bit bad for those behind us!
Iāve never been to a stadium concert, not because of crowds, but because I doubt the sound would be any good. I could be wrong but donāt think Iāll be paying big bucks to find out. I prefer medium size venues like the local performing arts center where I saw Brian Wilson just before the pandemic. The sound was excellent.
Iāve been to a number of stadium concerts and have been fine with the sound. However a colleague who attended one of the ones I did but sat in the nosebleed seats said the sound was terrible up there - I had no problem with it where I was. So thatās maybe something to think about.
It was just announced that CU football is, on average, the most expensive ticket in college sports. They include the average price of the ticket (not sure if they include student tickets in the average), parking, 2 beers,2 sodas and I think one other item. It is crazy to spend $15 for a beer. I did see that the Stubhub (or similar) tickets for the CU- Wyoming game has tickets going for $450 to $800! Iām not sure if anyone is paying those prices, but probably.
Lucky for me, a friend has season tickets and Iāve been invited to the opener, CU-GAtech. They have parking, I donāt drink $15 beers, and after a game a few years ago where the temps were close to 100 degrees and they didnāt have enough water available, we can now bring two sealed water bottles into the stadium. For me, a free night.
