I have just received the decision from Earlham college. It stated something like “if you can increase your family contribution, you are accepted”. The problem is they offer me a package with 2000 USD less than my family contribution. This doesn’t seem much but it really matter to me. Can I ask them to increase their financial aid? If I say that my family can only contribute the same amount but we really hope that I am admitted, will they reply with a rejection? Earlham is my first choice so I really hope to get in. Thank you in advance.
I would discuss this matter with their financial aid office and their admissions office. They have likely awarded several financial aid packages so they may be short on money to help you out.
They are saying it is conditional on you affording the higher amount. They are not going to raise it.
