So, now that Lance Armstrong is gone, American’s have to cheet to win the Tour de France. So much for the rise of american cycling for the previous 7 years.

Actually, I have read articles about not being able to spell on CNN. “Americans falling behind in Education”, “Most Adults Don’t Possess Proper Writing Skills for Their Jobs”, and other titles come to mind.

i’m pretty sure all of us have misspelled at least one word in our lives, god.

and you may not care about cycling but it’s an important sport and i know a lot of people who follow the tour de france closely. Landis is so stupid…but so are all those other bikers who were kicked out even before the race started. it’s sad that after lance left cycling is in such a bad state.
i’m surprised landis did something that brazen, especially after they kicked out the Tour favorites ullrich and basso simply for having sketchy connections…they’re all so stupid.

Do you people realize that Lance had to deal with this almost everytime he won? First of all, Landis hasn’t lost his title yet. Secondly, they have yet to confirm that the high levels of testosterone are due to any type of enhancement. His teammates are supporting him, even Lance Armstrong is behind him.

Cheating in the Tour has hit cyclists from many countries - not just America. Cycling is an endurance sport and all endurance sports have been hit with ‘cheating’ by the athletes using drugs and other substances to try to give them an edge. This doesn’t excuse Landis but no one should try to equate ‘cheating’ with America as if that’s the only place it occurs. btw - Landis was cycling for a Swiss team, Phonak, which has problems with doping in the past with its multi-national team members.

Boo Landis! Seemingly one of the most inspiring sporting stories ever now tarnished by doping.

The one thing all this does is validate Armstrong’s 7 wins: if in seven victories he didn’t get caught once, while Landis gets busted red-handed in just one, either Lance is the smartest man alive or clean. And Lance doesn’t seem like Einstein to me…

DAMMIT…mother*er…why did he do that. Now people are gonna start questioning Lance, especially the *ing French. I’m probably the most avid cycling fan you’ll meet and this is a disgrace…I didn’t discredit the victory until B came out…but now that its out and they found synthetic again…damn. I find it funny how Phonak isnt backing Landis like they did Hamilton…kept Tyler on the team all through his appeals and such, yet drop Landis at first sight.

Lance is so most def. clean…think about it, the record holder for wins in the most prestigious race in the world. He was the most tested athlete on many occassions, even cyclists cant cover up doping that long. Unfortunetely its the sport thats probably the most plagued by performance enhancing drugs.

Landis cheated…Periero wins…Lance is still clean

Pardon my ignorance (I don’t follow the sport very closely) but why don’t they do the tests of all competitors PRIOR to the race as well as after the race?

ucsducladad, if you read the OP, I said the words “outside of Lance Armstrong”, meaning he didn’t cheat. I know an american doesn’t have to cheat to win, I’m just mad that one did.

You don’t have to get all Bruin on me and misinterpret it

I think they have to wait for the appeals process, though I don’t know what evidence they have to appeal

The guys testosterone ratio was 11:1. The maximum ratio for a non-testosterone-taking man who has been building muscle like a mad man and is as horny as he has ever been is 4:1
