I am a recent H.S graduate and I’m planning on moving to a different state for college in January but for the meantime I’m thinking of attending my local community college for a semester. Would I save a lot by taking classes in my community college first and would I be able to transfer the semester credit to a different college once I move out? And my final question, how do I know which classes to sign up for if I register for my community college?

That’s a tough question. Call your new state’s community college and ask them everything.

It always better to double check with your other college to see if they accept the credits you’ll be taking this fall, however there are a couple of classes that will transfer right away for almost all colleges like: English 101, 102. Psychology 101, History 101, Public Speaking 101, College Algebra, those kinda of class, so if I were you I would at least take 12 or 15 credits this fall to finish a couple of your GE Courses.

Take GE classes, and make sure not to take anything particularly weird that won’t potentially transfer. Even if the classes don’t transfer, you won’t have wasted time though, because you’ve been learning and improving your academic skills. Either way, it’s a win.
