Hello dear users of CC!
I would be really grateful for any help with my grades. I will try my best to explain my situation:
I am an international student and in my country (an underrepresented one) you have to take 12 subjects. My GPA would be about 3.3 which apparently is not that good compared compared to most other applicants. However my grades suffered a lot because of health issues that included multiple surgeries had me unable to attend school for months in 9th and 10th grade. Now being back “full force” in school I´m not as good as I might have been.
As I want to apply as an repeat junior the grades year and 10 are the important ones it seems.
To make a long story short would I still have a chance grade-wise if i turn in good grades from my junior year and a good SSAT/PSAT

Thank you in advance

Most schools are very understanding of education systems in foreign countries. Make it known to the schools that you have had multiple surgeries that affected your gpa. You don’t want schools assuming you are less than capable of handling the work.

Definately try hard on your SSAT/PSAT but remember that there are other aspects of your application. Be sure to have a great interview, strong essays, and excellent recommendations.

Oh god, I hope you’re rigth. Brazilian system in private schools is VERY hard, with 12 subjects and everything. The school have grade 0 - 10, and the passing mark is 6, but most student’s average is 4 or 4.5. Mine is about 5, I believe, and I’m worried about it :/

OK, my grades (remembering that the school year here is february till november):
PASSING MARK: 60 (about 10% of the student have an average passing mark)
HONORS MARKS: 70 (about 1% of the students have an average honors mark)
2006 - 7.6
2007 - 7.2
2008 - 6.4
2009 - 7.1
2010 - about 5.0, the partial grade
what do you guys think about?
