Confused about my scores...

I have never been a super hard working student, however, my intelligence has always carried me through. I take hard classes and have a GPA of 3.88, weighted is 4.5. A certain IQ test alone before high school placed me in a rigorous honors program, that not many get into. I have always been considered smart. Then came the sat… I got a 1690 on my first with minimal preparation and after preparing some more i got a 1600…? My math score dropped 130 points… I am confused as to how a good student and intelligent person can do so poorly. I always planned on going to a school like UF, UM, or UT but now i dont think i can get into any. Why am i doing so poorly??? superscored- math:620, CR: 510, Writing:590

Try practice exams. Take one every weekend and within a month, you will see an increase. But also try the ACT.

Thank you so much. I tried an ACT without time and did well. but my biggest problems on these tests is not being able to finish in time. If i cant even finish critical reading sections on the SAT should i still try the ACT?

You need to look for test-taking strategies. There are lots of suggestions for how to improve your time taking the test by focusing on the things that matter. Hopefully someone here can point you in the right direction.

I’ve been to a few presentations by SAT prep programs here in NYC and they recommended between 6 and 10 timed practice tests before sitting for the real test. You review each practice test and start noticing if you are getting the same problems wrong and correcting those mistakes.
