Confused applicant

<p>I realize that by writing this I’m just increasing the number of applicants, but I really do desire other people’s input.
I wasn’t sure if I wanted to pursue Penn because when I visited I got bad vibes. I’m a rather quirky kid - I love theater, I’m kind of silly, I do a lot of improv, I do things like read Dante and Shakespeare for fun (I know. it’s weird.) This isnt to say I’m not a regular kid - I still go to parties and have friends and stuff, but I’m really not happy when I’m around people that don’t respect my interests.
When I went to Penn I felt like everyone was preppy and unlike myself, so I decided to not apply early, at least. Now, though, after being deferred from my early school I can’t help but wonder if I should reconsider Penn. After all it is a great school with great academics.
But do you guys think I’d be happy?
I’d really appreciate some input.</p>

<p>Considered Brown? How about Wesleyn?</p>

<p>I mean you can find artsy people everywhere but Penn isn’t really about that.</p>

<p>I’m applying to both of those schools.
What ultimately got me wondering again was that a rather quirky friend of mine got in and is so excited about attending.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I go to a ridiculously preppy girls’ school in Maryland with a great lacrosse team and a uniform. I can exist in such an environment and be happy. And Penn is near a city and has a lot of really smart kids… <em>sigh</em>. I’m confused.</p>

<p>what school? I go to Sidwell</p>

<p>have you looked at the univ of chicago?</p>

<p>Don’t apply to U of C!!! “Where Fun Goes to Die”!!!
Even the students there say so :(</p>

<p>Lol the chicago book brags:</p>

<p>You know you’re doing well when the number of hours you sleep is higher than your gpa</p>

<p>Penn has quite a lot of theater groups (although not as many as the acapella groups). And there is an artsy clique around some fraternities, societies and groups on campus. </p>

<p>If you are male the Mask and Wig are simply awesome. I know that there are similar groups that are co-ed or for women as well.</p>

<p>U of C is really … weird. quirky might be a better word. they also have liberal extremists there, so, erm… yea.</p>

<p>if i were you, i wouldn’t bother applying.</p>

<p>I’m not looking at U of Chi, thats even too weird for me.
And I’m a girl.
it’s kind of a moot point now, I’ve already handed in my Transcript Request forms and teacher recs.
We’ll see what happens, I guess.</p>

<p>where’d you apply early</p>

<p>Columbia.
Got deferred.
Yippee.
Oh, and to answer your question before, KingB, I go to Bryn Mawr, it’s in Baltimore.</p>
