Confused, please help!

I am confused about a few colleges can someone please help, from a CS/Math Major point of view and ease of admission for a 3.3-3.6 GPA/2100-2200 SAT range.

I get these mixed up!

Wash U…vs. U of Wash …

Secondly, which is better Pitt (is this U of Pitt?) or Penn State.

Thanks so much.

Wash U is very tough to get into. U Wash is a public school and if you are OOS you would pay a bundle.

U of Washington is (like many state schools) much more difficult to get into from out of state. Even in-state kids with a 3.3 really don’t have much of a chance.
Have you spent any time reading deeply into these school’s websites and trying to navigate their admissions pages vs. just posting random questions to strangers who might or might not give accurate information?
Are you an international student? That will also make a huge difference and can be addressed in the forum for international students.
If you live in the US and can’t find the state of Washington and the state of Missouri and the city of St Louis (where Wash U of St Louis is located…) on a map… oh never mind, I’m being snarky…

Post deleted. I can’t find a non-sarcastic way to tell someone who already knows how to use the Internet the difference between Wash U and U of Wash.

You already got your answer regarding WUSTL/UofW.
Pitt is probably better then Pen State. It is certainly in a much better location.
Both of those are a better match for your stats than WUSTL/UofW.

Thank you all!

I am a parent (thats why I posted on this forum) and yes, I am international.

When I read Chance me forums sometimes kids use abbreviated school name and hence the confusion on my part.

I think Penn State University Park has a better reputation then Pitt, but each has it’s pluses and minuses. Both are great public U’s. You want urban, go to Pitt, you want the quintessential college town (on a large scale) go to PSU.

Thank you Kath!

Looking for safety schools for son even though he is anti-winter. If the program (CS/Math) is good and he can get a good education plus be in a diverse student body, it might be worth looking into.

I have read that Pitt and Penn State have good CS.

WashU will be a reach for him. Fits him in all other senses.

If money is not a problem, he can try applying ED to WashU - it will certainly increase his chances.
