Confused yet about summer Pell? I am.

I thought summer pell was gone for this year but now I’m not sure.

It also says the pell amount for next year has not changed

So confused.

I am sure hoping for this too. My daughter was planning on staying at college for the summer session and I’m hoping the summer Pell will at least still be in place for this summer. Her university says there will be additional work-study also available for the summer… which is another critical piece of my daughter’s plans.

Reposting in case article gets deleted.

When the details of last Friday’s vote were released at the beginning of this week, the word was that 2nd Pell was gone. This morning, the financial aid community was informed that this may not be the case, due to the Continuing Resolution proposal. Given the back & forth of all of this, we are crossing our fingers but not breathing easy yet.

The best part of the CR is the possibility of suspending the crossover Pell regs for summer, which would mean that schools won’t be required to award 11-12 Pell in summer if the payment is higher. This will help students avoid running out of Pell next January … important because there will almost certainly NOT be second Pell in 11-12.

So it is POSSIBLE that there will be second Pell this summer, but it’s not signed yet. The vote is Friday (then the mountains of paperwork must be perused to glean the reality from the gobbledy-gook).
