What does FC Koln need to do to return to its glory days?

Sorry to jump in here but you forgot the most important one…
Will the Cubs ever win a world series??

Sports isn’t my forte. Definitely not baseball , at least. Matters of sports are too petty to interest me.

Too good for home made cookies…now you’re too high and mighty to partake in the great American sport of baseball??? Blasphemy!

Your attitude makes me sick…literally…I’m going to bed.

And all this time I thought you were a renaissance man – able to converse equally well on matters great and small.

Oh well. You really don’t get it do you? If you want people to pay attention to your ideas, instead of just you, it’s important present yourself and your ideas in a way that people are going to want to accept them. It’s important to be interested in what others care about for them to be interested in what you care about. It really is pretty simple.

Its interesting, in 1903 Cecil Rhodes endowed a scholarship with the intended purpose of improving the world through the diffusion of leaders motivated to serve their contemporaries, trained in the contemplative life of the mind, and broadened by their acquaintance with one another and by their exposure to cultures different from their own. Take a look at the four criteria contained in his will by which prospective Rhodes Scholars are to be selected:

Literary and scholastic attainments;

Energy to use one’s talents to the full, as exemplified by fondness for and success in sports;

Truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship;

Moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one’s fellow beings.

Think he might have had something there? It really isn’t enough just to be smart.

You have been extended great courtesies by the people of this board to listen to your ideas and discuss them. You, on the other hand, have taken every opportunity to find the most incendiary and vitriolic ways of attacking not only ideas but individuals who don’t agree with you.

You have been given opportunities to lighten up and present yourself as likeable. To which you find ways to become even more obnoxious.

Beyond narcissism, why do you post here? What value do you think your are bringing? What greater purpose are you serving?

Or is it simply all about you?

Should Farve retire or play one more year? Retire

Who’s a better prospect, Young or Leinart? Leinart

How high will D’Brickashaw Ferguson go? Fourth, after the QBs and Bush

Which potential ownership group do you think will get the Washington Nationals? Anybody but George Soros

Who had a better year, Crosby or Ovechkin? Ovechkin has the numbers

What do you think of the new Monday Night Football crew? Blah

What do you think of the rule changes for next season in the NFL? Celebration crack down, yes! The Carson Palmer clause, no.

How should Major League Baseball deal with Barry Bonds? Tell him or we’ll help fry you

Who’s the biggest sleeper in the draft? Anthony Smith, DB, Syracuse

Who is the most over-rated player in the draft? Young

Do you think any team in the west can beat the Pistons? Spurs, if healthy

What does FC Koln need to do to return to its glory days? pray they don’t get kicked out of the Bundesliga again and lose their best players. Or let their fans play!

Spidermon,

I’m in awe! But Kornhieser is going to be great!

LFWB…SM… I know you are trying to help the poor fella out, but honestly, why whould you even CARE about what confused thinks on these issues…or any other ones, for that matter??? He has said it himself over and over- he is CONFUSED…and from what I am deducing, not the least bit interested in getting it sorted out in that confused little head of his- so why feed the animals? The best response might be none…plain and simple. IMHO.

Point well taken.

No comment about my Cubbies?! I’m so hurt.

Navy2010, yea, the poor fellow has his blinders on for sure. Its just a game. A game to see if he can actually debate issues out there in the real world. He doesn’t do too well in this forum but may on an aol chat room somewhere. I’m off to go do important things. Water my flowers, check the wine frig stock, hang out my rebel flag, fire a few rounds off from my shotgun & snag some more of those taxes. The mansion needs a new drain pipe. LOL
P.S. I’ll try to stop feeding the animals. You’re right. It was so funny though.

We can only hope the Cubs can win sometime soon so their fans can stop whining. The silence is deafening from the chowda heads since they won one.

As are matters of logic. :rolleyes:

AHEM!

The were GIVEN one.

Notice that the Red Sox only win when the Yankees choke.

Good grief! They lost to the METS, for Pete’s sake! :rolleyes:

(Hey, Zaph, watch what you say, those Mets have the best record in the major leagues! :wink: ) Did I mention I was born in Queens?

Oh ouchie LFWBDad! Ouch Ouch! Wow! Ouchhhhh. I’ll get you back. I’m coming to DC in my flip flops & rebel flag purse to get my lobster since you’re buyin’. heh.

Mets play the Cubs two week-ends in July…May take me some IL Mids

JM

You don’t fool me. You keep Lilly Pulitzer in business! ;-)

Come on! They’re the French of baseball, except they actually play the whole game! :D

I was raised in Flushing, along Kisena Blvd right near where the A&P and phone company warehouse used to be, about halfway between Main Street and the L.I.E.

Or, as my parents used to say, “FLO-CHING”. ;)

matters of sports are too “petty” for me.

[Wish I could communicate a Wizard of Oz voice over this thread.] Is this kid living in Hollywood or something? You couldn’t convince somebody that there are kids out there like this.

Bill – my amazement grows with every post.
Zaph – Hey, I was born in Flushing (Booth Memorial) and lived in Laurelton! “They’re the French of baseball…” you are one-of-a-kind! Don’t ever stop posting – you crack us up every day :)

Lilly Pulitzer. One word. Yummy. They have one in Charleston on King St. ya know… Only for the mansion tho. The rest of the time, its USMMA t-shirts & jeans. Can’t eat lobster in that stuff. Gotta wear work clothes.
