<p>Reading between the lines, it would seem that the subject tests should be considered optional if you are from a disadvantaged background, but otherwise recommended.</p>

<p>Don’t need to ‘read between the lines’. UC made that quite clear when they changed the policy.</p>

So what happens to the hapless affluent kids, as featured in the LAT photo, who think they can “reduce their stress level” by forsaking the SATII? Will it really have no effect on their application?</p>
