Confusion about different bioengineering majors at UCSD

I’m applying for either Bioengineering or Bioengineering: Biotechnology at UCSD. I really don’t understand the difference between the two majors though, as the course tracks are nearly identical. Is it simply that Bioengineering is more physics-heavy while Bioengineering: Biotechnology is more chemistry-based?

goto www.ucsd.edu and check the departments

I did! The descriptions are virtually the same.

Read the first page of the PDF, under “Departmental Focus”. They sound pretty different to me.
