confusion about L&S CS petitioning process

Hi! I am starting at Cal this Fall and am attempting to plan my schedule. I am currently in L&S as an intended CS major.
To petition, all I have to do is complete CS 61A, CS 61B, and CS 70 with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30, right? And by when? The EECS website says “Petition Deadline is the last day of lecture in the semester you are completing your technical prerequisites” but I am not sure when that would normally be.
Also, if I do complete the prerequisites and get the min. GPA, am I guaranteed a spot in the CS major or is there still a chance I might not get in?
Thanks!

Yeah, it’s not really a “petition” - if you get a 3.3 in those courses, you’re in. What that statement of the website means is, you should submit your application during the last semester where you take any of the prerequisite courses. If you complete 61A your first semester and 61B your second, and take CS 70 in fall 2017, you would want to put in the application sometime during the fall 2017 semester. If you took both 61B and 70 in spring, then you would put in the application sometime during spring. It will be approved or rejected based on your grades that semester (generally processed about a week or two after final grades come out).

thanks so much @Thej77 !
