Confusion with Letter of Recommendation

Okay, so, for NYU, a letter of recommendation from the school guidance counselor is mandatory, right? If so, I’m in a real fix because my school does not have a guidance counselor. What should I do in this case? My History teacher is writing my other LOR.
I’m an international student, btw.

Bump!
Please help me out here.

Your school Principal can be your guidance counsellor.

They understand students come from a very wide range of schooling backgrounds. I agree your Principal or headmaster could be a substitute. You can also email admissions and ask directly to reassure yourself so you don’t worry. The purpose of a letter from a GC is generally to be able to compare your curriculum to that of the rest of the student body in terms of rigor, and to also explain a little about the school you come from, to talk about your role in the school in terms of leadership, strengths, to explain any problems there might have been with grades, etc. I would ask admissions what they want covered in a GC letter and then give that to a appropriate substitute, like your Principal/Headmaster.

Thanks a lot!
I am in the school print media team. Can the staff editor write an LOR for me?

I think the Staff Editor would be able to comment on your club activity related role and so would be ok for him/her to write one of the LORs. But they might not necessarily be able to comment on your academics/rigor, or talk about the school profile/student body. Therefore the school Principal would be a better alternative in the absence of a counsellor.
