I just read a post you made previously about Conley Scholars. Did you ever get an interview there? When do they let you know if you get an interview?

Conley interviews started in February and will continue through April (I believe). There’s about 8 kids applying from my school (almost all Columbia kids interested in med try for Conley) and some have already had their interviews and others haven’t.

Conley seems to be really good about going for the whole-person approach…they want good grades, but they also want people who have extracurriculars and HAVE GOOD INTERVIEWS. I think my dad said you have 3 interviews (at least) throughout the process. A side note – I think they took about 26 students last year!

I got accepted into Conley Scholars!!!

Congrats .

hmm I just turned down my Conley interview. Now I almost regret it, b/c it might’ve been good practice at least.

The whole Conley thing is kind of stressing me out. I interviewed early March and I just found out that the email regarding their acceptance decisions won’t be sent out until April 27. It just so happens I have to notify UMKC by May 1 of my decision. I’m really glad I’ll have 3 entire days to decide the rest of my life. (sarcasm)

Shortie316, did you get into the 6yr med program @ UMKC? b/c if you did, I’d go w/ UMKC over Conley. But that’s just my opinion…

ya I got into UMKC 6yr. More and more I’m leaning toward going to UMKC, but I just figured I would become a more well rounded individual through Conley. I mean you can practically do whatever you want, take whatever classes, and still have a place in med school. However, I figure after four years of undergrad at MU, I’d probably like a change of scenery for the next four years. I don’t know. Like I said, I’m stressing out.

I agree that Conley Scholars would give you a more well rounded experience. I’m majoring in Peace Studies–totally liberal arts–and just doing the bare minimum for the premed requirements. The good thing about Conley is that if you choose to take the MCATs and apply somewhere else, they encourage and help you with that process. You are not penalized for applying out. I have always had a problem with UMKC because it doesn’t give you a chance to explore other things besides science and is too rigorous.

Where are you two from? Personally, I’m DYING to get out of CoMO.

yea… i’m waiting for the decision for conley program too. it is stressing me out big time!! haha. i also got accepted into the umkc program… but i’d definitely prefer the conley over umkc, since it would be less rigorous and you’d get more of an undergraduate (or … rather… an ACTUAL undergraduate) experience that way. plus, yes, the option of being able to apply out. if i don’t get into conley (i had not heard about the april 27th date… i knew they said end of april but i was hoping it would be a bit sooner than… the 27th… argggh!!! i want to know NOOOWWW!!! lol) then i’m planning on going to upenn. but yea… it’d be great if they could let us know some time soon, considering we DO have to make a college decision and send things in!! :/

here’s a question though… how come some of us have to wait until april 27th when apparently somebody found out about their decision already?? (congratulations by the way) haha i wish i could have found out so soon…

interviews are done on first come, first serve basis–as applications come in, interviews are lined up.
The earlier you sent in your application, the earlier your interview, and–if you’re a really stellar candidate, the earlier you find out. That’s not to say you can’t find out later on, though, even if you had an early interview.

I got my decision March 5th

So, does anybody know if they’re going there yet?

Unfortunately, I wasn’t accepted into the program. Oh well. It’s off to UMKC!

I got accepted into Conley and I will be attending next fall! :)

Congratulations. I guess we’ll be meeting then.

Hey, mesohuangry–are you male/female? And what part of the country are you from? I just want get to know the other Conley Scholars:)

I’m from Illinois and a junior. I visited the campus over my spring break. I loved it there and I know the Conley Scholars programs is great! However, I’m extremely nervous about interview (if I make it that far). I think academically I’m set, but not for my interview. I have a slight idea of what kind of questions they’re going to be asking me, but if anyone could give me some hints or any help at all it would be greatly appreciated!
