How much does it cost for Yale students to use the CTLimo service? Their homepage lists the price as $67 - is this with or without the discount already? And do family members get any discount if they take the limo with you?

I spoke with a lady from the service and she was rather vague about the whole thing, so if anyone can clear it up for me, I’d really appreciate it!

I think it’s $67 with the discount (I forgot to book online before using it once, and this amounted to $80). It’s a great service if you don’t have the time or energy (or just too much luggage) for the train, but it’s a bit on the expensive side.

It’s a good service, but a long ride, and not always comfortable or very direct.

The last time we had to book airfare, the US Airways flight out of the New Haven airport was only about $70 more than the NYC airports, so it cost about the same (as using Ct. Limo to JFK), and was a lot less hassle for my daughter. This year, we’ll have her use the New Haven airport if the airfare is within about $80 (one way) or so of the JFK/LaGuardia fares.

In four years I don’t think there is a single occasion I would refer to CTLimo as a ‘good service.’ Rather, it’s the only option for many people flying into Hartford or coming in late to NYC, and requires patience and tolerance. The company knows you don’t have any other option, and over the past four years I’ve been crammed into vans beyond capacity, had a shuttle arrive at the airport over 2 hours past schedule, and been forced to wait an hour because they overbooked and had to send another shuttle. Most of these were repeat occurances, and shared by many other Yale students.

It gets you from point A to point B and I’ve never missed a flight, however, one of the greatest perks of graduation for me is never having to use CTLimo again.

Weird. I’ve used it three times total (which is a ridiculously small sample for sure), and never had an issue - it’s always been on time, lots of room, helpful driver, and 2 out of 3 times I’ve arrived up to an hour earlier than the phone people suggested I would. Maybe it’s a rush hour versus not kind of thing?

oh snap. I don’t go to yale (hopefully that’ll change in 09) but I do live in CT. There are other/better ways to get around bucolic CT than the limo that don’t break the bank.

Prime Time Shuttle offers a service to the New York airports. This last time around I price-checked and they were a bit cheaper even without a Yale rate. They also usually pick up a bit later and seem to get to the airport more quickly. Neither is particularly great but a couple of times my daughter was pretty aggravated with CT limo. The NH airport is great unless you will be needing to make a connection. The last time my daughter flew out of New Haven it was a complete nightmare and it ended up taking two days to get home. After that it was nonstop from JFK only even with the hassle of ground transportation.
