Hi,

Does anyone know they make you install any programs to get on the wireless network? Or do they just give you a username/password and you connect? More specifically, has anyone been able to use Linux on the wireless network?

Thanks!

supposedly there are programs to be installed, although my computer has no such thing installed and connects fine… You will have to install a “certificate” if you don’t want to see a “Warning: do you trust this server” type message a lot, if I remember right… Couldn’t tell you about Linux, although their doesn’t seem to be any reason Linux wouldn’t work.

OK, I guess I will set up a Windows virtual machine just in case then.

I think the problem you’re referring to has to do with the SSL certificate for the school’s webmail. I’ve got the mail forwarding to my Gmail account now, but the one time I did access the webmail, I got an invalid certificate error. I think that’s because it hasn’t been officially signed by VeriSign. In any case, Firefox 3 makes it easy to approve invalid certificates, so it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
