Hey folks:

At what school do you think you make better connections, Yale or Stanford?

This thread is ridiculous.

Agreed lolol

Yale is all about connections. So excuse me how is this question ridiculous? Like parents and students dont speak privately about “connections” at Ivy League schools?? Huh? I would say YALE for sure. I mean isnt that the purpose of Alumni- Raising money and connections? Stanford is not Ivy and I think its too big maybe and probably too spread out. Harvard is about connections - especially the alumni- their network is amazing. Princeton I dont know yet though there is plenty of spirit at the school while you are there. Maybe the alumni connection is not that strong. Yale has so many secret societies which I think equals big time connections. You can rule the world on connections!

^I didn’t say connections were a bogus idea. I just think the question (a comparison) is a silly one.

Every college movie made is about schools with connections secret societies etc. That Matt Damon movie about the CIA for example- Yale and connections.

It all depends on what you mean by ‘connections’. An Ivy League alum may give your resume another look if you went to the same school she did. Having the school name on your resume in the first place may impress certain people. Or having taken classes with a well-known scholar in your field who can write you a good letter of recommendation could get you into your desired grad school. But those things are true of a great many colleges, and much depends on which part of the country you live in and what your intended career is. Around here, having gone to Penn State will give you a lot more connections than a degree from Yale.

Interesting…I hear there is afilm, The American Ruling Class that is set at Yale that talks about this…has anyone seen it. I hear it is fabulous…Kurt Vonnegut, Walter Cronkite, James Baker…

This thread still remains ridiculous.

You’re going to make great connections at Stanford.

You’re going to make great connections at Yale.

You’re going to make great connections at Stanford that you won’t at Yale.

You’re going to make great connections at Yale that you won’t at Stanford.

Agreed. Ultimately, doesn’t it just depend on how actively a student pursues those connections? I’m sure that someone who actually talks to his/her professors outside of class and expresses interest in certain subjects will end up with more connections that someone who doesn’t.

The good Shepard is the Yale film with Matt Damon it was pretty good. but it was pretty long. didnt spend much time talking about yale really except the skull and bones which I always wondered if that was acurate or not. ddnt see amer ruling class what is that about? Yale? Princeton has the eating club system not quite the same and for connections they say Finals at Harvard are important. I disagree hksangha with all due respect I think it depends on what kind of job you want connection wise.

The Good Shepherd was way too long, in my opinion. They could’ve easily shaved off at least half an hour and still had a quality film.
