I made a huge mistake today on a quiz in English. I was confused on what chapter to study for a PSAT vocabulary quiz and accidentally studied the wrong one. when I got to class, I discovered I was supposed to study another chapter. I panicked and wrote down answers from the chapter on a slip of paper. during the quiz, my teacher caught me and gave me a zero. she told me I would get a discipline slip and I probably won’t get into NHS. with these consequences on record, will this affect my chances of getting into certain colleges? I’ve been working hard to try and get into the University of Texas. will they automatically reject me for this?
It will hurt your chances. It shows you do not show good judgement under pressure.
do you know how bad it will hurt them? I have no history of getting in trouble in high school, no write-ups or detentions. and my grades are great. I’m in the top 7% of my class, which is automatically accepted into UT. I just don’t know how this one mistake will affect me getting into the school.
The real answer is that you need to find out your consequences and then deal with your GC. We can’t tell you how your school will handle this.
