What are the consequences of not mentioning you attended a previous University?
Meaning you attended a University but did bad and would like to start over fresh, therefore you didn’t mention that you previously attended a University??

Penalty? Rescind their offer of admission, if you get one. If anything, it could be a blow to you (if you had planned to attend that school and get nailed over this issue)

Never lie about that type of stuff. You’re dealing with serious business. Period.

jakingful: have a look here and I think you’ll decide not to hide your previous schooling. Colleges and universities subscribe and filter their applicants through this.

If they catch you afterward, you’ll be sued for the cost of any FinAid. If you took federal grants, you’ll be prosecuted. And your degree will be rescinded.

Some info - I have an illness, it is much better now however…

I attended a University in my home country, and declared a major as a full time student. Later I changed the major to something else, while still a full time student. During my time at the University however, my illness got bad and I had to periodically take time off, plus it messed up my grades.

So here is my question…
I report that I attended a University before and send in the bad transcripts (Bad - due to my illness at the time) and apply as a freshman for Engineering (Why? None of the credits are able to transfer for an Engineering degree…). Would this process be feasible and could I qualify for scholarships etc.?

OR

Regarding the circumstances, would I still have to apply as a Transfer student?

Each college has their own definition of who must apply as a transfer. For some schools if you’ve taken 1 post-HS college course, you can only apply as a transfer. Others will consider you a freshman if you have not completed a full year of post-HS college. And others have credit limits–note this means the number of credits you’ve taken, not the number that will transfer.

You don’t say how long you actually attended college, but if it’s a year or more, you are going to have to apply as a transfer student.
