D19 is applying to grad school for masters programs, and her first decision/acceptance rolled in today. It’s a great school, but probably not top choice. However - she hasn’t even applied to some others with later deadlines yet, and the deadline for accepting this one will probably be before she’ll hear from some others. Are there any consequences other than losing the deposit if she accepts then subsequently withdraws to go elsewhere?
No. Maybe in the sense of burning a bridge, but, otherwise, no.

My friend’s kid got into a MBA program off a waitlist and withdrew from the school he originally deposited at with no negative consequences (other than losing the deposit).
