Considered for Financial Aid, but DID NOT ASK FOR IT

<p>Hi all</p>

<p>I was deferred ED.</p>

<p>I did not apply for financial aid at all, yet, a week ago upenn asked my school for proof of my citizenship and said US/canadian citizens are automatically considered for aid, even if they do not ask for it...My counsellor called back to make sure I did not ask for aid, and they said yes, but still consider all US/canadian citizens for aid EVEN if they do not ask for it</p>

<p>Is that true? (im thinking wth)</p>

<p>But I'm deferred...why would you consider someone for aid if you're going to defer that person?</p>

<p>Hmm, that sounds a little fishy. I would call Student Financial Services (or Admissions) and double check.</p>
