I’m a current freshman and I’m hoping to get some advice on the transfer process. During the college process last year I got rejected from my top schools and ended up at the university I am at now. It’s a great university (US News Top 40) but the focus here is more on science and engineering - every other person I meet is pre-med - whereas I’m studying economics and political science. In terms of social life, I’ve hardly made any friends and spend most of my time alone. I know it’s only been two months but I’ve definitely found it difficult to find people I relate to on this campus. The students seem less motivated and less intellectually curious. In terms of academics, my classes are definitely easier than high school - I went to a fairly competitive public school - and I know I can make a 4.0 this semester. I’m in several clubs, I write for two student publications, and I am planning to go through sorority recruitment next semester. I was wondering how soon I need to decide to begin the transfer process and if anyone has any recommendations for transfer-friendly schools with strong academics and a good social environment. Any and all advice would be appreciated! I don’t know anyone who has gone through it before.
Vanderbilt University & Northwestern University are two to consider.
You will make friends at these schools.
Are you currently at CWRU ?
Thanks! and yes i am
Claremont McKenna College in California may be an interesting school to consider based on your major areas of study & on your desire to socialize.
