To expand on my previous post: By coincidence, my mid-thirties son visited me just before this thread. He thanked me for a few things from his upbringing. One of those, seemingly trivial, was that I supported him dropping AP Lit in senior year. He said it made all the difference for that year and he still got into his top choice, one that your parents would be happy with. He also said that that model, of looking after himself by avoiding stress and living with balance, has served him well since then, which makes a decision like this less trivial I guess.
