Are you an independent student? Parents not contributing to your college education? Are you eligible for financial aid and/or will you be working by going to school?

Can you stay at home while attending the community college? Would give you an opportunity to focus on your academics while not worrying about paying for room and board. And if you can work, you can save money to help if you transfer to a 4 year college.
Yes, if you are California resident/US citizen, you may be able to qualify for Cal grants, federal grants and loans.

Probably not “financially smart.” Financially smart would be taking free room and board.
But it may be smart in terms of your living arrangement, if you’re not getting along with your parents.
