Considering National Status When Joining a Fraternity

The TKE chapter at my school is pretty decent and well-respected on campus. from what I gather however, nationally, TKE is considered a joke (“If you can’t go Greek…”) and just a pathetic fraternity on most other campuses. Should a fraternity’s national status be considered when joining a fraternity, or should I only take my personal experiences into consideration when deciding to join?

If you really like the guys in the chapter, go for it. You don’t have to hang out with all TKEs ever. I wouldn’t pass up what could be a great part of your college experience just because your frat is weak nationally.

My sorority is kind of small and not well-known at most schools. Hell, it’s small at my school. But I like it, I love my sisters, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
