Considering transfering from Purdue University to IUPUI my sophomore year?

I am currently a freshman at Purdue University pursuing a degree in Professional Writing. I am considering transferring to IUPUI for my sophomore year in order to commute from home and save money. Has anyone gone through this this that would be able to give me their perspective on the whole thing? Also, I am trying to find a major at IUPUI that would be similar to the one I have now. I am hoping to one day be an author but I don’t know if IUPUI’s creative writing major is exactly what I’m looking for. I am interested in the non fiction and editing aspects of writing as well. Also, would it say IU or Purdue on my diploma? Any help would be much appreciated.

I went to Purdue and majored in Professional Writing. IUPUI would be a great option. It’s still a either a Purdue or Indiana degree on the diploma. And in a hiring office after a few years a lot of managers aren’t going to be nit picky. The advantage is that most of the job fairs will be at IUPUI, and everyone interned/worked in Indianapolis during our last year.
That being said Creative Writing isn’t the same as Professional Writing. Most all C.W.'s I knew double majored in P.W. or the school of education. P.W. is practically the same major as Comm with a few extra classes. I realized this after a few years and decided to stick with the minor in Comm to avoid taking out more loans and Double Majoring. Both majors will teach you H.R. techniques (writing for different businesses/non-profits) and Web Development at basic level. So you may want to ask you counselor about that.
