Consolidated book suggestions for AP

i have a few questions (even after reading this whole thread)

for AP Calculus BC there seem to be three books that people recomnend.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0972705554/ref=cm_lm_fullview_prod_3/103-5751877-8320610?_encoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=283155

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0768909899/qid=1151010277/sr=1-8/ref=sr_1_8/103-5751877-8320610?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

and the princeton review

most likely, i will buy the arco one…but i am just wondering if anybody has any reconmendations on these books.

also - for anybody who has taken AP Spanish Language, what review book did you use to supplement your class. I would like one that thoroughly explains all the topics, because my class does not move at an exceptionally fast pace.

here is one link…anybody used this?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/080131531X/qid=1151010549/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-5751877-8320610?s=books&v=glance&n=283155

are there ne books that accompany that new section implemened starting 2007 in ap english language?

What book do you guys think would be good to self-study AP Chemistry? I have Princeton Review’s Cracking the AP Chemistry Exam, but it doesn’t seem like it goes into much detail. It is not the “teaching” book.

Murrah08, I understand your situation. You do need a background in Ap chemistry to start Princeton Review Ap chem. For this “background” on the topics, I would advise you to take a peak at the following website. It explains the topics well, but for practice problems, I would definitely recommend doing them either in PR or Old Chem tests (Which are available on this website also) Good Luck. http://dbhs.wvusd.k12.ca.us/webdocs/ChemTeamIndex.html

chickenboi8008,

I know the latest edition of princeton review’s ap english language covers the new section (and the old one too).

Murrah08,

If you want real detail, I suggest Barron’s AP Chemistry (3rd edition is the latest I think, it’s the one I have).

I’ve read through this entire thread, so right now, here’s my list of prep books to read over the summer:

Calc AB - PR or Arco (both?)
Euro - MEH & PR (I think?)
Chem - PR*

*I already have the 2004 edition of the Kaplan book for AP Chem, but no one’s mentioned this, so I’m assuming it’s not very helpful. But does anyone know if it “teaches”, unlike the PR book?

Also, if I am going to get a headstart in the summer, does anyone have any recommendations on how I should go about doing that? Should I just know the basics or go through the entire book? I’ll be taking these classes next year.

How’s REA for government?

For World History I suggest the Princeton Review book, it got me a 5:P

My suggestions (I got 5s on all these exams):
APUSH - Princeton Review for the summary of events; REA is great for practice M/C and essays
Chemistry - Princeton Review is very concise and readable and only covers what you need to know
English Language - Cliff’s Notes

Anyone taken Spanish? What is the best prep?

What is the success rate for Kaplan’s Econ? PR’s getting such good ratings that I might give it a second chance xD But when you mean PR’s Econ book, do you mean its 06-07 edition or 04-05 edition? Or does it not matter? Personally, I thought the 06-07 edition looked a little weak when I looked upon its table of contents but I probably was being too superficial…

Barron’s is slightly superior to Cliff’s in ap bio.

omg chem olympiad gotta do that

I don’t think we have a recommendation for AP SPanish Language. The link to Amazon given by Tim555 above has ratings which say, “No answers anywhere, no tapes”, and “Book would not be useful by itself”.

Is Cliffs for economics a good book, because the PR book is kind of confusing (Too many graphs), is Barron’s easier to understand.

Thanks.

I dont see why you guys waste so much money on prep books. The best way I preped for my APs was to review my textbooks.

What’s a good textbook to prepare for AP Chem AND the chemistry olympiad? anyone?

I was wondering about that chem question since I know probably at least 70% of the AP Chem material, but I also want to do well in the chemistry olympiad (hence I don’t need any basic chemistry stuff except maybe in lab procedures my teacher didn’t do)

well AzN3rd, you make some money, you lose some. I don’t spend money on shirts, movies, or videogames anymore…free shirts from corporations and seminars + basketball camps + free souveneir shirts from family = no paying for shirts

But I can’t keep all that money save…gotta spend at least a little of it on something that could save me thousands dollars (if I don’t get into Ivy ).

why cant you keep your money?
