Consolidated book suggestions for AP

Aphotic–I’m hoping to SS psych and stats this year also. Good luck!

My recommendations, thus far:

Human geo: barrons (5)
euro: PR, modern european history (5)
bio: cliffs, 5 steps to a 5 (5)
french: barrons (5), i think REA also has an AP french book out

Hey guys, considering about Ap books, would it be cheaper to buy it on line or in Barnes and Nobles? Or does it make no difference?

I’ve taken 8 AP exams so far (this is my senior year) with seven 5’s and one 4. Out of the 8 AP exams, I only took 3 AP classes – all the rest is self-study through prep books. Take this list as you will - but I did earn really good marks through these books alone (I didn’t buy a textbook for any of them except the courses taken at school).

AP Calculus AB and BC - Princeton Review, Barrons (do it until it gets really hard - there are some ridiculous problems in Barrons - for example, graphing something like y = e^(3.7x-1) freehand). (BC self-study)

AP World History - Barrons. Period. (self-study)

AP European History - REA. Period. (self-study)

APUSH - The Giant APUSH Review Guide (find it online - about 79 pgs, some student typed it up). PR is pretty useless.

AP Chem - PR

AP Psych - a joke in the AP system. PR alone for three nights gave me a 5. (self-study)

AP Stats - the only 4 I have…Barrons is enough, but I was really hard-pressed for time last year (self-study).

Good luck!

I have Cliffs for AP government & politics, and I don’t feel like buying another AP book like the Princeton since I heard the exam isn’t that difficult. How good would you say Cliffs is? (for those that have used it)

I bought some PR Books off amazon-
List Price- $17.00
Amazon Price- $11.56
I bought 3, so I got free shipping, and there’s no tax.

But… Yesterday I went to the Friends of the Library Book Sale, and I bought all of their AP Review Books. All Hardbacks $1.00, all paperbacks, $0.50

4 Princeton Review Books- $2.00

wow look like you got some great deal there lildude3077. do you happen to live in california? maybe i can go there and buy some.

what are your recommendations for us govt and politics? i read variations between pr and REA on this thread, i think. on amazon, some reviewer seems to really love 5 steps to a 5 for govt. what do you guys think? i’m leaning towards pr, though. thanks!

I don’t know for sure, but I usually trust PR more. For nearly every exam, there is a small amount of people who love 5 Steps to a 5, but the rest seem to lean towards the more well-known books.

From what I’ve done so far:

I recommend that for
Biology = Barron’s [I only read half and got a 5..]
Chem = PR
Macro = PR maybe
USH = REA

Anyone have suggestions for AP English literature and composition?

$2 for 4 Review books! I’m jealous…I feel like I wasted a lot of money.

This is a note to people studying Psych with Barron’s. I noticed that there are a few spelling mistakes with some of the names in the book. So far, I’ve found two, but there could be more. They talk about Hans Selye, but call him Hans Seyle. Also, they mentioned Alexander Luria, but call him Alexandra Luria. These mistakes are pretty minor, and probably won’t affect anyone, but I just wanted to warn people just in case.

aquamarineee ----

What is REA??? I’ve been seing this over and over again. Ahhh, I want to know what it is! I plan on getting that and AMSCO for AP US History. I heard PR for APUSH is useless.

REA is a brand.

http://www.amazon.com/AP-United-States-History-REA/dp/0738602183/ref=pd_bbs_1/002-6591212-8513633?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173651641&sr=8-1

I’m trying to buy the Peterson’s book for Calculus on amazon but they have been saying it’s out of stock for several months already. What if it’s not sold outside, should I just buy PR instead?

pfft sweet, get the barrons book, who needs peterson’s for calc, it’s pretty useless especially compared to barrons (Barrons is king in calc. Ab or BC)

Which AP books would be good for the following:
Stat
Calc
Chem

So, from what I’ve seen in this thread, everyone recommends PR for World History?

does nebody have ne suggestions for ap chem; the thing is i have a sucky teacher, i forgot everything i learned and i have PR but i dont think its enough…
the passing rate for our school is like 15% :frowning: heeeeelp

I heard that Barron’s is good, but hard to understand. I don’t know if that helps at all, though.

Anybody got any testimonials for Fast Track to a 5 for APUSH?
