My teacher had trouble getting the book. there’s no question. it’s the book to get. even if they did change the test a little, it wouldnt be so much that it wouldnt cover it.

^Thanks =] So for APUSH, it’s definetly AMSCO.

For English, I suppose I’ll just do my best in class and hope the teacher’ll prepare us.

As for AP Bio; many are saying cliffs because of its format and all. Barrons is more for detailed (some say too much detail).

I’m also considering Spark Notes Pack (with flashcards, etc?) for APUSH and APBIO…would it come into aid?

Star:
AMSCO Website: $17.00
Amazon List Price: $37.35
Barnes and Noble: Not Sold

I ordered from the AMSCO website 2 days ago

Okay so I’m pretty much decided on all except for AP Envi Sci and AP Calc AB … anyone else have any suggestions?

Yeah..sorry if this came up before in the thread but how are those sparknotes power packs?

they have a book, some cards, and other dandy things for only 15$ but i dont wanna buy it and open everything only to find out that it’s not enough

I got the sparknotes power pack for psychology and it was okay. definately get another book with it though. the spark chart is really helpful, but the flash cards were just too much for me. and the practice tests were okay. if anything, get the sparkchart seperately and another test book :].

So here’s my list:

U.S. Government - Princeton Review
Calculus BC - Barron’s (although I don’t think I’ll be using it)
Physics - Barron’s
English Lit - REA

Sound good?

here’s my list (i have never taken an AP test before so i went on a anxious book spree):

Bio - cliffs
U.S. History - REA
English Language - Princeton Review
Physics B - Princeton Review
Psychology - 5 Steps to a 5
***Env Sci - Kaplan (did anyone try this before??? I am self studying)

^ i heard env sci is good with “smartypants guide to Env Sci”, or “PR”,i never heard of kaplans lol, dont use it bro.

Okay, so I just ordered some review books last night on amazon (going by the suggestions on this thread). Here’s my list:

AP Biology – CliffsAP
AP Psychology – Barrons
AP English Literature – Barrons
AP Calculus AB – PR
AP European History – Modern European History

I ordered the 2008 editions of most books. Is this okay? I’ve studied from really old books before (i.e., 2004/2005 editions) and still managed to get all 5s on my APs. I just thought it would be wiser to order them now while they’re cheap, rather than waiting to order them before the test (when they’re probably sold out or really expensive, lols). Any input?

P.S. – I also wanted to add that I thought it would be better to have the books now, because they can serve as a supplement (or complement, however you want to view it) to my AP classes.

I read the reviews for PR env sci and it didn’t get rave reviews.. so i bought kaplan and im hoping for the best : |

altindiegirl –
i am doing the same..using them as suplements…so that i dont have to digest a ton of textbook text since i am a slow reader. :D

I took AP Micro & Macro last year…the subject was boring. My teacher was new. But the concepts in Econ aren’t hard to grasp. I spent about 60% efforts in that class and got As. Crammed using PR 1 week before both exams, and got 4 on both of em… Now I wish I studied harder… T_T I actually slept during the exam…

This year I bought some books for the APs I’ll be taking…
AP World - PR
AP Bio - Cliffs
AP Calc - Be Prepared for the AP Calc Exam by Mark Howell & Martha Montgomery - anyone ever used it?
(it has great reviews…[Amazon.com: Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam: Mark Howell, Martha Montgomery: Books](http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0972705554))

I’m also taking AP Eng and AP Stat, anyone has recomms for those subjects? Do you really need a book for Eng?

Since there is such great debate: what books would you recommend as the absolute best for getting a 5 on each of these exams? Don’t recommend three for each category; try to pick one if you could, maybe two at the most.

English Literature and Composition
Spanish Language
Calculus BC
Chemistry
(Potential: Environmental Science)
Also, should I consider prepping for AP Psychology on my own? Is it a worthy subject to study? If so, what textbooks, if any, should I read, along with a prep book or two to use to study for the exam?

So I made a list based on what people have said here, and can anybody kind of tell me if the list is good or not?

CHEMISTRY
Princeton Review (Someone said that Petersons was actually better for Chemistry, and PR was really bad? Can somebody clarify?)

ENGLISH LANGUAGE
Princeton Review or Cliffs (does anybody have a firm opinion between these two?)

ENGLISH LITERATURE
Barron’s or REA (again, does anybody have a firm opinion between these two?)

CALCULUS B/C
Princeton Review (Petersons also has some good reviews, but it seems that PR has a better rating? Again, can somebody clarify?)

MICROECONOMICS
Princeton Review

ANY SPANISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE RECOMMENDATIONS?

Falthor: I’ve heard that AP psych can be done without a text book. I got 5 steps to a 5.

Can somebody recommend me a good book for AP Environmental Science? I’m self-studying this course so I want to get the best book possible.

So I’m conflicted. Peterson’s or PR for BC Calc? And Barron’s or Cliffs for Bio?

I think I’m going to go with PR for Chem and maybe nothing for Spanish, people don’t seem to like any of the books.

Calc BC: Be Prepared for the AP Caluclus BC Exam was the one I used, and not only was it really informative and helpful, but I liked it a lot too. And it was recommended by my teacher, who’s used it for years. Also, I used Multiple Choice and Free Response Questions in Preparation for the AP Calculus (BC) Exam, which is just a set of 6 full practice exams with answers, great for practice (I ended up doing the first 4 at least).

AP Chemistry: I haven’t taken the class yet, but I’m working on the summer homework out of the AP Achiever, which apparently goes with our textbook and is required for the class. I’m less than three chapters in and I absolutely hate it. Any good supplements?

AP US History: I have CliffsNotes, but I haven’t used it yet, and I haven’t really seen anyone mention much for the class. Any suggestions?

As a side note: PR for European History worked very well for me, though it could have been a bit more detailed.

I’ve used Peterson’s for AP prep before and I also have old multiple choice tests (no I will not give them out, sorry)

I have to say that the practice in the back of the Peterson’s book is almost exactly the same as the 1998 (or some other year I can’t remember right off the top of my head) just with a couple numbers and set up problems switched. I think Peterson’s is actually better, because of this.

Overall what I used with score:

Calc BC: Peterson’s (5)
Chemistry: PR (5)
USH: Kaplan (5)

For Bio, I have to mention that all I did was read half of Barrons and I got a 5. I have Cliffs and Barrons, but I didn’t have time to read them both before the test since I had Bio and PhysB, so I just started to read Barrons. I also just outlined half of the essays from 1999-2007.
