Did you like Barrons for Bio (what you read of it)? I’m trying to decide between it and Cliffs.

“Also, I used Multiple Choice and Free Response Questions in Preparation for the AP Calculus (BC) Exam, which is just a set of 6 full practice exams with answers, great for practice (I ended up doing the first 4 at least).”

Used it for AB. Got a 3. Didn’t practice many FRQs. If I did, I would have gotten a 4 or 5.

AP Psych: 5 Steps to a 5, eh? What about Barron’s? I heard that was good, if not better.
AP Calc BC: “Be Prepared for the AP Caluclus BC Exam” (Is that the actual name for it? Or is it the Peterson’s Guide?)
AP English Lit: No recommendations yet?
AP Spanish: Nothing’s good? Oh boy. Could I use Barron’s? My teacher’s also providing us with “Preparing for the Language Examination” by Diaz, I think his name was.
AP Chemistry: Princeton Review?
AP Environmental: Anything?

Nimrodel: AMSCO ALL THE WAY!

i think it’s concise and i just like the formatting much better than Barrons’ psych book. maybe it’s just me.

As a sophomore I took AP Chem and used AP Achiever (correlated directly with Chang’s Chemistry textbook used in class) and Barron’s. I personally found Barron’s to be much more helpful for the AP exam and probably read through that book about 2 hrs (at least) every day for a good 2 weeks leading up to the AP exam. I got a 5.

For Calc AB, PR seems to be too easy. I used PR extensively and only got a 4 on the exam as a soph. However, if I took another book (like Barron’s) I could have probably gotten a 5.

for calc AB and BC i prefer Barrons
some people hated them for many mistakes but it is wayyyy much better than princeton review…

And fhg i recommend princeton review for ap bio… I studied with it and got 5 on it…barrons is just ok…and cliff=no idea..

APUSH I recommend Kaplan i also got 5 studying with this
it is pretty detailed and cover almost everything in your textbook.

Physics C i used barrons but i dont really want to recommend it,prefer princeton review, i mean barrons are wayyyy too hard than the actual test…

and can anybody suggest me for AP chem?
i bought barrons but im not sure it is good or not…

What’s a good book for AP ENVIORNMENTAL SCIENCE?

haha..everyone says smartypants guide..but i couldn’t find it a the store and it was too expensive online. so i just bought kaplan..not sure if its concise though, because its way thicker than PR’s book

How is Barron’s for APUSH? My parents surprised me and brought it home today from the bookstore. I know that AMSCO is generally considered the best one and I’ll probably get that closer to test time, but is Barron’s that bad and would it be able to help compliment the class?

Chemistry - Princeton Review
English Language - CliffsAP
English Literature - CliffsAP
Calculus B/C - Peterson’s
Microeconomics - Princeton Review

Just as a note, I got a 5 on the AP Human Geo test…I used the REA prep book…it was awesome. It was actually kinda interesting to read, too; as interesting as a prep book can be…I got the one with the CD, which was helpful…I took a practice test on my computer.

I strongly recommend the Princeton Review for AP Economics. I had a less than adequate teacher but was able to get a 5 just by reading the PR book the day before the exam. For U.S. history, I didn’t find any of the books extremely helpful (I got a 5 in it as well). It seemed to me that either you knew the information or you didn’t. How do others feel about studying for the APUSH exam?

AP US…

any recommendations?
I have the American Pageant text book and I’ve yet to buy a review book.
But textbook AND review book suggestions would be very much appreciated :)

I’ve heard AMSCO/REA are the best ones. I’m still wondering how Barron’s is since I have a copy of that around here somewhere. I’m using the American Pageant as well.

Buy AMSCO, REA has way to much random info and I hated the format…

I like REA, but I’m thinking of getting AMSCO, since I’ve heard so many good things about it.

(Off-topic) Also, I think the American Pageant is one of my favorite textbooks I’ve had so far … the writing isn’t as dry.

For APUSH, AMSCO is the way to go.

i don’t know what book to get for ap cal BC?
ppl recommend pr and arco? but which one should i get? i plan for self studied
please send me some clarification on AIM

Can I get people to comment on what helped them in AP Chem? I’ve heard PR and Peterson’s (Arco?) but am still not sure.

For AP Bio would you guys recommend Barron’s or Cliffs? I’ve heard conflicting opinions… I’ve also heard PR from a few people.

Peterson’s or PR for Chem?

And any recommendations for Spanish? People seem to like very few of the books…

I think I’m going to go with Peterson’s for BC Calc.

OK, this is what I have gathered from reading the thread and browsing around Amazon. This is not definitive; if you object to a book being on here or if you recommend another book that’s as good or better than another one on the list, then you should add it, with comments if you like (just copy and paste the list). And for a few exams, you probably won’t need a text if you just want the easy 4/5, namely Environ Sci, Comp Gov, Human Geo, and Psych (perhaps Stats).

NOTE: If it’s not on here, I’ve got nothing on it.

Art History - Janson (text), The Annotated Mona Lisa (review), REA (prep)
Biology - Campbell (standard textbook), CliffsAP (prep; the AP Bio “Bible”), 5 Steps to a 5 (for extra review)
Calc AB/BC - Stewart (standard textbook), Be Prepared for the AP Calculus Exam (prep), Peterson’s/Arco (for extra review)
Chemistry - Brown (text), Princeton Review (prep; if you have a good class or rock at chemistry), Barron’s (prep; for extra review/your class sucks)
Comp Sci A/AB - Litvin (text; not sure about this, but it seems good), Barron’s, Be Prepared for the AP Computer Science Exam in Java (prep; Be Prepared is a bit easier than the test, Barron’s is harder)
English Lang - CliffsAP, 5 Steps to a 5 (prep; both of these are good)
English Lit - CliffsAP (prep), see Reading List in the course description for texts
Environ Sci - Botkin (text), Smartypants (prep)
European Hist - McKay (text), Princeton Review (prep)
French Lang/Lit - Barron’s (prep; the languages don’t have that many good options)
Comp Government - Ethel Woods (prep; any suggestions for a textbook?)
U.S. Government - CliffsAP, 5 Steps to a 5 (prep; again, any suggestions for a text?)
Human Geography - Knox (text), REA (prep)
Economics - McConnell (text) Princeton Review (prep)
Physics B - Cutnell (text; should be good), Princeton Review, 5 Steps to a 5 (prep; both are good)
Physics C - Halliday/Resnick/Krane (text; without Krane is the most rigorous, but with Walker sucks), Barron’s, AP Advantage (prep)
Psychology - Myers (text), Barron’s (prep)
Spanish Lang - Barron’s (prep)
Statistics - Barron’s (prep; help on textbook?)
U.S. History - Blum (text), AMSCO, REA (prep; AMSCO is supposedly better)
World History - Hill (text), Princeton Review, Barron’s (prep; get Barron’s if you’re hardcore/have a crappy class)

and a cleaner, no-nonsense list, which assumes you have decent to good classes and textbooks:

Art Hist - REA
