I’m not surprised, she is the best teacher (and most respected one) i know! it was pure joy (with some painful hard work) to be in her class!

i was talking about Wesley’s princeton reivew bbook =/ thanks for the master list!!=D

Thanks for the comprehensive list, energized. :)

With so much speculation of posts one can never decide on what to buy. I think it is best to put your trust in one book rather than give half your attention to it. If you want Barrons go for it, if you think its got extraneous material go for PR but don’t try both people on this thread prove that by using one of these books they got 5s so go by your gut.

I’m taking AP World History this year and based on what the very first book recommendation list said I should go with Barrons. However, throughout this post various people and other lists have said Princeton Review is the best book to use. Which AP book would be best to use in conjunction with my textbook, Traditions and Encounters, for WHAP?

For the AP World History class, it depends on how hard your multiple choice tests are. If they are really in-depth, get Barrons. If your textbook is in-depth and you just want an overview of the chapter, get Princeton Review.

For the AP exam, if you want to cram in a few days get Princeton Review. And, if you want a comprehensive review that you start a few weeks before the AP test, get Barrons.

@omnivorousshippo:

T&E is an AMAZING textbook, but I wouldn’t recommend using it along with Barrons because its like having TWO textbooks. If you just want something to help you REVIEW, go for Ethel Woods. It gives basic summaries and some pretty helpful charts, plus the practice exams are pretty close to what you’ll see on the actual exam in May.

@everyone who gave me book suggestions of APUSH:

Thank you so much! But I went to B&N today and they didn’t carry AMSCO =/
After skimming through a few of the other choices I went with Kaplan. Good or bad? I’m still open to suggestion.

For APUSH, I think Kaplan is decent, though I’m not sure the questions are like the AP exam. I used AMSCO! It’s basically a condensed text book.

For APWH, Princeton’s Review ALL THE WAY. I read both PR and Barron’s, and I can honestly say that Barron’s was serious overkill. Barron’s was nice in that it had review questions after every chapter, but they weren’t worth it. PR was really good.

For Biology, I used Five Steps to a Five. But clearly, they are liars (I got a four -_-). Alot of the people at my school used Cliffs and said it was awesome.

Does anybody know any good review books for AP Micro? My teacher this year isn’t that good and having a review book to help me along the year would be nice!

Also, if anyone can give review book suggestions for English grammar and comp., those’ll be much appreciated.

not sure if anyone added this yet, but Schaum’s Outline for College Physics is excellent for practice problems as well.

What is a good book for ap euro during class?

Can someone recommend some prep books for me if I explain my situation? I really need 5’s on all these tests (don’t we all!)

Okay… I’m taking APES, Psych, BC Calc, Eng Lit, and Span Lang.

I’m taking APES because I’m genuinely interested in it. I know I’ll probs be able to do this relatively easily… I just want a book to help study for the unit exams… something more brief than the textbook that we’re using (even though it isn’t too dense) and just to see the concepts explained in a different way.

I am really not concerned at all about Psych. My teacher is the best teacher in the universe, basically. He goes beyond what an Intro to Psych college class does, and he’s been an AP grader and test maker. He wrote the text book that we’re using (his name is Michael Sullivan in case anyone else is using that book!). But I’ll take suggestions for a prep book just in case.

BC Calc is going to be the death of me. I’ve always gotten straight A’s in math (and all other subjects… so when I get a D in this class, it’s gonna look pretty bad). I’m not really a math person… I’m just good at learning it, I guess. But now I’m in the same class as all the math oriented people, so they understand everything relatively easily. I need something that can explain all the concepts much better than the text book. I need it to make sense.

I didn’t use a prep book for Eng Lang last year and got a 5. I started off doing decently last year, then got better. I doing a bit worse this year, but I think that I’ll get better on my own. But if there is some amazing prep book for this, please let me know.

And finally Spanish. I absolutely love Spanish. I am uber-nervous about the AP test. Especially the speaking. I’m really freaking out. What book best prepares you for the test?

I’ve tried reading through this thread, but I’m really not sure about what to do (and I didn’t want to start a brand new thread).

Thanks in advance!

I believe that it would be beneficial if a list could be made of the best self study books, not just review in general.

The needs of a self studier are quite different than someone who has taken a class all year and needs a brush up.

Can someone throw some advice our way? =D

For european history, I am getting mixed signals on a good book. From which of the following choices is the best book: barrons, princeton, or ap achiever?

can someone recommend a good book for AP European History?
It seems like people are recommending Modern European History, but does it include practice tests or is it just like a textbook?

And also.. Be Prepared for the AP Calc Exam or Barrons?

Is REA a good book to study for ap euro class?

I’m thinking of retaking the Spanish AP. I took it last year and got a 2. Know of any good review books?

Hi~
I went through 40 pages but I cant keep on anymore..so I will just have to ask..

I want to self study psychology, micro/macro/(one of them), environmental, and comp politics(i’m taking U.S government right now and took US history(not ap)

I’m currently taking 3 ap, calc, euro, and us politics

so what book is good for psychology, micro/macro, and environmenta. or comp politics?

settled psychology with PR, no idea about the other ones, since there is a mix of different opinions..

barron’s seems to be very informative..but it is too informative??? maybe its safer to cover everything?

and do I need a book 4 those self study classes???

ask too much..thank you!

Hey, I need some review books for the ap tests, specifically for:
Ap English Literature and composition
Ap Human Geography
Ap Calculus AB
Ap Spanish Language
Ap Comparitive Government
Ap Physics B

Could you tell me what books help get the highest scores? I really need help. Thanks!

I know it’s not the one usually recommended, but my daughter liked the Ethel Wood book of AP Human Geography.
