I currently have the PR prep book for APUSH, but I’m looking to get another one. My two options right now are AMSCO or REA. Which one would you guys recommend? I’m self-studying, so I want something with a good historical review and some practice tests.

AMSCO is definitely much better for self-studying, though I recommend getting a supplemental textbook. APUSH has a lot of information to cover, and requires an in-depth knowledge of the event in order to write a good essay.

isnt Mcgraw hill a good book?

the 5 steps to a 5 stuff?

anastawu: i took calc ab/chem last year and personally, i can’t stand barron’s for math/science; pr for chem is fantastic and basically all you’ll need. for calc, just do lots of practice fr, doesn’t matter from which book.

CC Lurker: pr is amazing for econ, definitely get it, or just sit in the library and use it. barron’s is alright, much more in-depth, but econ tends to go in circles b/c everything influences everything else, so barron’s tends to be confusing also..[oh, and do you live near a barnes and noble? they always have every book, that’s where i do all my studying x)]

any suggestions for apush, eng lan, or bio? really worried about apush, since my teacher is a new, ex-middle school teacher >< thanks guyss

Cliffs is awesome for bio. My course was not comprehensive at all, and I got a 5 after just reading through CliffsAP the night before.

this thread is the most helpful one I ever read.
Choosing good textbooks and prep books area vastly important.I use General Chemistry and its applications,a terrible book but now I cannot change it for chemistry:the central science, since I have finished 10 chapters in anguish.

I have both amsco and REA. If you could only get one, definitely get amsco. It has better organization.

Does anybody else have any suggestions for Economics?

It looks like there are only 2 current books for this –

Barrons & REA

We have Barrons and it seems pretty good. There’s a grammar review and then specific practice on the types of questions for the reading comprehension, listening, writing, and speaking portions of the exams.

I own REA at home, and we have a class set of Barrons at school. I haven’t worked with the REA yet, but the Barrons has thus far been very very helpful.

Book Recommendations?
