Has anyone tried the Cliffnotes verison of AP Government and Politics? Is it worth getting (the reviews on Amazon seem kinda promising..)

I tried Cliffsnotes for Gov. It was really really good. If you know everything it goes over you are at least guaranteed a 4. I got a 4 on the test with a horrible teacher. So a good class+Cliffs Gov=Epic Win! Get it, it’s a good one.

is PR enough for complete self study of Gov US politics?

^^ Thanks!

Okay, I read through this entire thread and have narrowed my choices down to 2 books for each of my APs and I can’t decide between some of them, so maybe someone could help me out but i’m NOT not going to get a prep book for any of these. I NEEED one for every ap =/

AP Environmental Science
SmartyPants or Barron’s (If I can’t find the smartypants one in a bookstore, I’m buying the Barron’s)

AP Statistics
Barron’s or Princeton Review

AP Spanish Lang
REA or Barron’s

AP Physics C
Princeton Review or Barron’s

AP Calculus BC
Peterson’s or Princeton Review (I kind of wanna get both)

AP English Literature
Barron’s or CliffsAP

Thank you so much for your help, it is much appreciated! =D

Env science. Barrons
Stats barrons
Physics c. Princeton
Calc. Princeton
Ap spanish.. nothing is better prep than doing your homework
Ap lit. Nothing can sub for a class but cliffsap is good

Can anyone suggest a good prep book for ap economics

ok thankss

princeton review allll the way for econ.

ok thanks! What about Physics B? Princeton Review seems to be favored but 5 steps to a 5 gets really good reviews on Amazon. I don’t want to buy both and I would like something detailed with good explanations since I have never taken a Physics course before.

Can someone tell me if these books are ok?

AP Calculus BC: Princeton Review
AP Micro/Macro Economics: 5 Steps to a 5
AP Chemistry: Princeton Review
AP Biology: CliffsAP
AP Physics B: Princeton Review

Just still not sure about Econ. Don’t know if I should trust Amazon reviewers or CC’ers choice of PR.

R-KATT,
All good choices. I had a friend who used 5 Steps for Econ and it seemed good. The problem with PR is that it is very general, it doesn’t go to much into detail. I used PR, but I also had a great class with an awesome teacher. 5 Steps seems to be more comprehensive (although I haven’t actually read it). I got a 5 on the Econ test, but I don’t think it was just PR that did that. Otherwise, I’d say all of your choices are good.

What are the best review books for AP Calculus AB?
Opinions welcome; thank you! (:

Peterson’s. It covers both calc AB and calc BC exceptionally well. It’s absolutely massive for a review book, however, so don’t expect to bring it to school constantly.

I’m taking: AP Physics B, AP US History, AP English (11th grade, I think it was AP Language, but not sure), and AP Psychology.

Which prep books are the most helpful for each subjects?

Thanks in advance.

AP Physics B - Princeton Review or Kaplan, go to the store and determine which you like more.
AP US History - AMSCO and Princeton Review (if only one, get AMSCO)
AP English Language - CliffsAP
AP Psychology - Barrons

For calculus B/C, I fully fully fully recommend Princeton. It taught me essentially everything, as I had a crappy teacher. It’s also a fun read, so you can get through it. The people are pretty conversational, they even make fun of themselves and the AP writers.

I’d also recommend Princeton for US History. I read through their review section in the two days before the test…that was pretty much all my review for that. Again, easy read.

I’m self-studying all of the following so here’s what I got from page 50 onwards from this thread.

US Government and Politics: PR, CliffsAP (doesn’t seem to rank high on most lists)
Comparative Government and Politics: Ethel Woods
US History: Amsco, PR (Amsco’s more recommended)
European History: Modern European History, REA, PR
World History: “PR, no question about it”, Barron’s

I need one from each. Recommendations, anyone?

Is it possible to take all these all at once? My school doesn’t offer AP, so I can’t ask them questions about AP.

I’m taking AP US History and heard about the Crash Course book. Should I get Crash Course or AMSCO?

Just wanted to re-post this post by stix2400 from earlier on in the thread as I spent 15 minutes looking for it and thought it would be nice to share. It covers everything this thread is about.

Thank you stix!

Nice bump .
